Whether it’s a 30 second interview, an in-depth discussion or a contentious call-in show, every radio interview scenario has different opportunities to deliver a strong messages – and different traps to avoid. Using live mike and recorded practice sessions, the trainers will draw on their experience of over 20 years working in radio. Participants will learn how to deliver effective sound bites and clear messages that audiences will remember.
About the Trainers

Jimmy Durchslag has worked in radio for more than 20 years and currently heads the Mainstream Media Project (MMP), a nonprofit media support services organization which schedules interviews, primarily on talk radio, to expand the national discussion of critical economic, social, environmental and security issues. He has designed specialized trainings for grantees of the Ford Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Ploughshares Fund, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the Rockefeller Bros. Fund. He has coached and placed guests from organizations as diverse as the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Women’s Donor Network, the Four Freedoms Fund, the WorldWatch Institute and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Over the course of his career, Durchslag has booked progressive speakers on literally hundreds of radio programs including outlets such as CNN, Associated Press and Air America. He graduated magna cum laude Yale University in 1970.

Halimah Collingwood schedules interviews for Mainstream Media Project clients on syndicated programs, and public and commercial stations nationwide. She has extensive experience in radio as a producer, programmer, and engineer, and for the past twelve years has been host of a weekly World Music program. Halimah attended San Jose State University
